The language that God uses over verses 2 and 3 is noteworthy. In verse 2, God talks about the land that I am giving,
and in verse 3 he speaks of the land I have given.
There’s a sense of already and not yet.
The title deeds of the land belong to the people of Israel—it is theirs by right now—but the land still needs to be claimed and lived in.
