What did the Danites ask the Levite about?

Judges 18:15 (ESV)

15 And they turned aside there and came to the house of the young Levite, at the home of Micah, and asked him about his welfare.

The text literally says that they asked him about shalom. This greeting is the standard Israelite greeting.1 In other words, they ask the priest about his life, his well-being, his health, his family.
