The spies intentionally use these descriptions in order to fan into flame the enthusiasm of their fellow tribesmen. Each descriptor presents a striking contrast to the present living circumstances of the Danites: they are in a land that lacks beauty, is not spacious, is occupied by Canaanites, and lacks resources for the tribe.1
