1 Kings 8:58 (ESV)

58 that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers.

It is to be noticed that the desire for the Lord’s presence to be continually with Israel is not without a reason. The reason may surprise us. God’s blessing as he pours it out upon his people was requested by Solomon in order that his people might be drawn near in their hearts to him. The manner in which this is to be done is by keeping the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that God had commanded Israel in its beginning. The reference is almost certainly to the law of God under Moses.
