Commentary on 1 Kings 8:57 (Summary)

1 Kings 8:57 (ESV)

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us,

Having blessed the Lord for the way in which he has kept his promise, Solomon went on to ask God’s continued favour upon Israel. He pronounced a wish that God would be with Israel in Solomon’s time as he was with Israel in previous generations. In addition, he asked that the Lord might not forsake Israel.
