Jesus generalizes the sin of adultery so that it includes any and all sexual relations outside of marriage. 1 Even desiring sexual relations with someone who is not your spouse puts one under condemnation. Not just deeds but thoughts and desires are thus also addressed by God’s law.
28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
