The encouragement to persevere in doing good is also given elsewhere in Paul’s letters (2 Corinthians 4:1, 2 Corinthians 4:16; Ephesians 3:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:13; see also Luke 18:1).1 Well-doing requires continuous effort and is difficult to sustain as a result of our sinful natures (which are fond of ease) 2 and the disappointment that comes when our hard work does not seem to pay off or make a difference. 3
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
