1. Galatians 6:17 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What does it mean for Paul to bear the marks of Jesus on his body?

Galatians 6:17 (ESV)

17 From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

As a result of his commitment to Jesus Christ, Paul bore the marks of persecution on his body. He had various physical wounds and scars (see Acts 14:19; 2 Corinthians 11:25). 1 His opponents, by contrast (the Judaizers), did not have any such marks because they avoided persecution by refusing to proclaim the scandal of the cross (see Galatians 5:11; Galatians 6:12). 2
