Although he wanted to remain unnoticed, Jesus did not withdraw from the intrusive crowd. With love and self-denial he immediately began preaching the word to them.
Mark again formulates by using the growing Christian language usage. In that usage the word,
the message
(ho logos) stands for the message of the gospel that God has made known through Jesus. In this verse, this abbreviated form of speech harks back to Mark 1:14–15 (the gospel of the kingdom of God) and to Mark 1:27 (a new teaching with authority).
Jesus continues his activity of revelatory instruction, of which more was said in Mark 1:1–45. All that follows is based on this theme and it will become apparent that the healing of the paralytic becomes part of peaching the message.

2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them.
