  2. Exposition

Why is the town of Capernaum referred to as Jesus' home?

Mark 2:1 (ESV)

1 And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home.

Jesus stayed in a house there that functions as his fixed address (eis oikon: home). Was this the house of Simon’s mother-in-law (Mark 1:29)? Or did Jesus have his own house? In any case it was spacious, for the many people that came as soon as they heard of his homecoming could be accommodated in that house (Mark 2:2).1
