1. Galatians 6:4 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What does Paul mean when he says each one should test his own work?

Galatians 6:4 (ESV)

4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.

With this phrase, Paul is most likely encouraging believers to measure their lives in accordance with the standard of God’s law,1 rather than by comparing themselves to other believers.2
