What does it mean to walk by the Spirit?

Galatians 5:16 (ESV)

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

To walk by the Spirit is to live in a manner that is in keeping with what the Spirit has revealed about God’s will. This can only be done when the Spirit empowers us and changes our desires. When this happens, we will make progress in godly living.
