What does it mean to "use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh" ("indulge the sinful nature," NIV)?

Galatians 5:13 (ESV)

13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

To use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh (or indulge the sinful nature, NIV) is to pursue your own selfish desires (see Ephesians 2:3).
