Why did the Holy Spirit prompt/move Simeon to go into the temple courts?

Luke 2:27 (ESV)

27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law,

The Holy Spirit prompted Simeon to go to the temple courts so that he would come into contact with Mary and Joseph. We are not told exactly how this prompting took place.
