God’s promises to Abraham included land, people, and blessing (Genesis 12:1–3; Genesis 15:1–5; Genesis 17:4–8; Genesis 18:18; Genesis 22:17–18; Genesis 26:4).1 The promise was not limited to physical descendants, land on earth and prosperity in the here and now. Though all these concepts were included, God’s promise ultimately referred to life in God’s presence, life in the new creation (Hebrews 11:8–16).2
