Righteousness was counted to Abraham as a result of his faith. He was not righteous in and of himself but declared to be righteous.1 The righteousness of Jesus Christ, the only man who has ever perfectly obeyed God, was imputed and reckoned to him. Faith is counted as righteousness because faith unites the believers to Christ who is their righteousness.2
