Summary of Ecclesiastes 5:3

Ecclesiastes 5:3 (ESV)

3 For a dream comes with much business, and a fool’s voice with many words.

In this verse Solomon characterizes anyone who thinks he can convince the Lord by using many words a “fool”—someone who babbles on and on. It shows that he actually trusts himself. At that point you act like an unbeliever. When your mind is busy with a lot of things, or when many things worry you, chances are you will have a restless sleep. Often then you will dream a lot. Then your life becomes like a dream and you are no longer anchored in reality—in real life with God.
