As a human being you can and may enjoy life. Yet that is not the most important thing for those who know the Lord. This life is not the most important thing for those who live with Christ. People who do not look beyond this life say, This life is my portion and I need to get the most out of it because after this, everything is over.
If you do not take into account life beyond the grave, you have no wisdom and understanding of this life.
We need God's revelation in order to gain insight into life on earth. Only when the Holy Spirit opens our hearts for the Word of God, will we clearly see what will happen after death. We learn how to prepare for it. Paul states this later in 1 Corinthians 2:13–14 where he writes, “We impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”
22 So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot. Who can bring him to see what will be after him?
