1. Galatians 1:11 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why does Paul say to the Galatians "I would have you know"?

Galatians 1:11 (ESV)

11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel.

The words I would have you know are somewhat formulaic and may be identified as the opening of the remainder of the letter after the introduction (Galatians 1:1–10).1 Paul wants to remind the Galatians of something they have forgotten, specifically, the nature and origin of the gospel that he preached to them.2
