The words I would have you know
are somewhat formulaic and may be identified as the opening of the remainder of the letter after the introduction (Galatians 1:1–10).1 Paul wants to remind the Galatians of something they have forgotten, specifically, the nature and origin of the gospel that he preached to them.2
11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel.
