In Revelation 21:14, John had already mentioned the foundations upon which the city’s wall was built, with each foundation having the name of one of the twelve apostles inscribed on it. Now John mentions the foundations again because the angel drew his attention to a further significant detail concerning those foundations, that is, their adornment with precious jewels.
