The structure of Revelation 21:15–21

Revelation 21:15–21 (ESV)

15 And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls.

Revelation 21:15–17 revolves around the measurements the angel took of the city. Revelation 21:18–21 gives us details concerning the walls and gates that John had (presumably) not noticed at first glance (Revelation 21:12–14).
