23 “Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

It is probably clear from the expressions on Job’s friends’ faces that he will receive no pity from them. Since there is no justice or pity to be found among the people of Job’s own generation, he now puts his hope in the generations to come. If only they can read his words one day and see that he had spoken truth!
