Commentary on Job 18:16 (Summary)

Job 18:16 (ESV)

16 His roots dry up beneath, and his branches wither above.

It is not only a wicked man’s own life (his roots) that is destroyed. The lives of his descendants (his branches) are also destroyed. Again, these are terrible words to say to a man who has lost all his children.
