How does he embrace her?

Song of Solomon 2:6 (ESV)

6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me!

The Hebrew word hbq refers to a sexual embrace (see Proverbs 5:20 where it is used in a negative way to describe a young man committing adultery) with his left hand supporting her head and his right hand caressing her.1 The longing the young woman has is not just to be in her beloved’s company, she longs for his caress.2
