Cherishing the grace of God

Judges 16:20–21 (ESV)

20 And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the LORD had left him.

See from God’s Word the sadness and humiliation that come when a child of God ignores his calling, and presumes upon the grace of God instead of cherishing that grace. For that is the opposite of presuming upon the grace of God for your life. Our only hope of avoiding that is by having God and his great promises and gifts as our single focus. Our text calls us to see the blessing of life with our abundantly generous God, and the calling to enjoy that life. Samson spent his life wanting what the Philistines had rather than seeing what God had given him. What are you after? May it be what your covenant God has promised you: fellowship with him, forgiveness in Christ, and everlasting life with God that begins already now. May your desire be to live as you are, set apart for the Lord, enjoying his grace.
