What does Delilah’s work with the pin recall?

Judges 16:14 (ESV)

14 So while he slept, Delilah took the seven locks of his head and wove them into the web. And she made them tight with the pin and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he awoke from his sleep and pulled away the pin, the loom, and the web.

Delilah fastened Samson’s hair with a pin, which recalls Jael’s striking a tent peg into Sisera’s head in Judges 4:21. In both cases, the actions are done by women upon sleeping victims. What has happened that the Israelite judge endowed with the greatest physical strength ends up being portrayed as Sisera, the Canaanite abuser of God’s people?1
