The term used refers to the share allotted to any given person, be it positive (Revelation 20:6; Revelation 22:19) or negative (the present text). Failure to “conquer” means failure to inherit the privileges of God’s nearness when heaven comes to earth; instead, this “liar” will inherit his “portion” in the terrible lake of fire.
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
