1. Revelation 21:5 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What does God’s use of the word “behold” mean?

Revelation 21:5 (ESV)

5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

The voice of Revelation 21:3 had used the same word. As in that verse, so John is here instructed to take in carefully what he saw in Revelation 21:1–2 and understand the vision’s implication: a new heaven and a new earth, with a new city, means that God is “making all things new.”
