1. 1 Samuel 25:28 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What did Abigail mean when she said that the LORD would make a sure house for David?

1 Samuel 25:28 (ESV)

28 Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the LORD, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live.

Abigail appears to have been convinced that the Lord would make a sure house (NIV: lasting dynasty) for David if he was an obedient king who listened to God and limited himself to fighting the Lord’s battles (not his own). David received fresh assurance of God’s promise from the lips of Abigail.1
