Peter’s conduct in response to his arrest in Acts 4:1–22 gave glory to God inasmuch as the apostle was not intimidated but instead spoke with great boldness (1 Peter 4:13). He could do so because he took seriously the exaltation of his Lord and Savior, and so underscored the weightiness and splendour (i.e., “glory”) that belonged to the exalted Christ. Peter’s readers are to adopt the same posture in the event of similar mistreatment.
16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
