How did God’s true king, David, help his priest?

1 Samuel 22:23 (ESV)

23 Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. With me you shall be in safekeeping.”

David protected and preserved the priests where Saul wanted to get rid of them.1 From this point onward, David would have priestly guidance by means of Abiathar, in contrast with Saul who would go to the witch of Endor in his attempts to find help (see 1 Samuel 28:1–25).2
