1. 1 Samuel 20:23 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

To what matter did Jonathan refer?

1 Samuel 20:23 (ESV)

23 And as for the matter of which you and I have spoken, behold, the LORD is between you and me forever.”

This refers to the promise from David that he would look after Jonathan's family in the future when he would come into power. David would honour this promise (see 2 Samuel 9:1–13; 2 Samuel 16:3; 2 Samuel 19:24–30).
