Presumably there was an extended discussion in which Saul apologized for his desire and plans to kill David and explained what caused it. The reconciliation must have been sufficient to allay any fears from David, seeing as he would return to Saul’s court to play the harp (1 Samuel 19:9–10).
7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan reported to him all these things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.
