1. Psalm 146:4 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Commentary on Psalm 146:4 (Summary)

Psalm 146:4 (ESV)

4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

This verse now surely provides the ultimate motive as to why trust in people is futile: people are mortal. This fact is not merely communicated but is visually drawn. In this way the difference with the eternal God becomes even clearer (see Psalm 146:5–6).
