Why does 2 Samuel 3:14 say that David paid only one hundred foreskins as bride-price?

In 2 Samuel 3:14, the emphasis is on David fulfilling the conditions that had been set by Saul. The fact that he went above and beyond to pay extra is besides the point in that passage.1
