What is a siege tower?

Nahum 2:5 (ESV)

5 He remembers his officers; they stumble as they go, they hasten to the wall; the siege tower is set up.

When the Babylonian army gets to the city wall, they set up the siege tower which is probably a type of cover that is designed to protect the invading army as they look to break through the wall.1
