What is the significance of Samson’s promise, “And after that I will quit”?

Judges 15:7 (ESV)

7 And Samson said to them, “If this is what you do, I swear I will be avenged on you, and after that I will quit.”

Samson thinks his next act of revenge will be the end. Yet he does not quit. Every time he responds to the Philistines, he does so with more violence than before. This appetite for more will eventually lead to his death.
