This verse moves on to discuss the normal menstruation period of a female. The term “impurity” (niddā
) is derived from a word that means to put away or exclude. This refers to the exclusion of women from temple worship. The woman is considered to be unclean in the same way that the male was unclean because of his discharges.
19 “When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.
