In the first instance, anything that comes into contact with an unclean man becomes polluted. These are things that he may sit on (Leviticus 15:4, Leviticus 15:9), sleep on (Leviticus 15:5a), the water with which he bathes himself (Leviticus 15:5b), and anything he may touch (Leviticus 15:10–12). Uncleanness may also be spread through the direct contact, such as touching (Leviticus 15:7) or spitting (Leviticus 15:8).
4 Every bed on which the one with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and everything on which he sits shall be unclean.
