Why didn't Saul tell his uncle what Samuel had said about the kingship?

1 Samuel 10:15–16 (ESV)

15 And Saul’s uncle said, “Please tell me what Samuel said to you.”

The precise reason for secrecy is not clear. Possibly it is to prevent rumours from spreading, rumours that could influence the final selection process and acceptance of Saul’s kingship (see 1 Samuel 10:17 – 11:15).
