Why does the man of the place ask about the father of the prophets?

1 Samuel 10:12 (ESV)

12 And a man of the place answered, “And who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

The question is most likely a reference to the leader of the group (see 1 Samuel 19:20).1 He is not asking about the father of Saul but about the leader of the group of prophets which Saul has joined.
