1. Judges 13:23 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What would we have expected Manoah’s wife to say in response to her husband?

Judges 13:23 (ESV)

23 But his wife said to him, “If the LORD had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering at our hands, or shown us all these things, or now announced to us such things as these.”

We might have expected her to say, “How can we have a child if we are going to die?” And in a way she does. But it is not the first thing she says. She is perceptive, in saying that their sacrifice would not have been accepted if the Lord had meant to kill them.
