What does the author mention “warp” and “woof”?

Leviticus 13:48 (ESV)

48 in warp or woof of linen or wool, or in a skin or in anything made of skin,

The “warp” refers to the lengthwise threads of fabric when the material was woven on a loom. The “woof” refers to the cross-threads woven through the warp. Thus, the reference to warp and woof is a merism, indicating that if any part of the clothing is infected, it must be examined by the priest.
