Wisdom looks to the future

James 1:9–11 (ESV)

9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,

Do you envy that person with the house on the lake? Does that upset you—that you are poor now, suffering now, and they are thriving? James says, do not do it, because this life is so short. Rejoice now, because your future is secure—no matter what you are suffering. All my trials, Lord, will soon be over. That is true if your trials last eighty years; they will soon be over. Those who do not know God and are rich…they will be humiliated…Wisdom looks to the future and rejoices now.1
