Quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger—that is the humility with which we must come to the Word of God. We should come with broken, contrite hearts; having sorrow over the sin that we find within us; confessing that sin; fighting against that sin in the power of Christ Jesus and trembling under the Word of God. The Word is not something that we approach as an equal; we approach the Word of God as the converted servant children of God, in submissiveness and brokenness. Speak, Lord, your servant listens.1
