The term correction
here refers to discipline. Discipline from God is designed to lead his people to repentance (Leviticus 26:18; Psalm 119:71; Hosea 6:1). The Lord sent his chastening judgment on her during the reigns of Ahaz, Hezekiah, and Manasseh. But Judah remained indifferent (see also Jeremiah 5:3; Amos 4:6; Haggai 2:17).1
