Genesis 3:3 (ESV)

3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

The woman says something here that we do not find in Genesis 2:17. She says that they should not even touch the tree in the middle of the garden. Some interpreters believe that this is the woman’s own devising. We should be careful with this point of view. It may be that in Genesis 2:17 not all was written down that the Lord had said, and that we discover some supplementary information here.
