Those who survive the destruction must not think that they are better off; the Lord also lets them go. He gives them over to their enemies who can do with them what they want. It literally says: “(I) will give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies.” That the word “enemies” is mentioned twice shows what deplorable state the people are in. When you are away from the hand of the Lord, you become a toy in the hand of your enemies.
