This is how the Lord created the expanse, that is, the sky. From time to time, we see the rain coming from this sky. The word “expanse” or “firmament” shows that God created something that he stretched around the earth (see also Psalm 136:6; Isaiah 42:5). His command is sufficient to bring this about.
7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.
