What does it mean that the root will be killed with famine and the remnant slayed?
Isaiah 14:30 (ESV)
30And the firstborn of the poor will graze, and the needy lie down in safety; but I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant it will slay.
In contrast to the safe and certain future prophesied for Judah, the Philistines’ descendants would die of hunger and even the remnant would be destroyed by the Assyrian armies.
